RED

RED is a newly devised contemporary work in response to Little Red Riding Hood, RED critically examines social power dynamics, the exploitation of vulnerable people, and the key question: Who gets to tell the story?

This is not just a play, it’s an immersive, disability-led storytelling experience. Audiences step into the ensemble’s world, at times becoming active participants rather than passive spectators. Through multi-sensory engagement, sight, sound, touch, we will create a deeply felt experience, challenging conventional theatre norms and reimagining how stories are told and received.

At its core, RED is about shifting perspectives. It breaks barriers, between performers and audiences, between disabled and non-disabled people enacting a real conversation. It invites audiences to practice connection in the theatre: to speak up as a bystander, to challenge injustice, so they are empowered to do the same in the real world.

Acknowledgement of Country

As storytellers, we acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of the land we gather on. We’re grateful to create on this land, knowing storytelling has been part of its history for thousands of years. It has held cultures and communities long before us, and we honour the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Elders who continue to care for it today. We recognise the impact of colonisation and the absence of a treaty, and we commit to amplifying the voices of First Nations peoples and working towards truth, justice, and reconciliation. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
